Another bites the dust! TDK no longer making blank HD DVDs, and more

Could HD DVD be in any more trouble? Well yes if either Paramount or Universal went neutral but more news comes today, starting with Warren News (on their subscription service) reporting Imation, under the TDK brand, will stop making HD DVD writable (blank) disks. TDK are one of the biggest brands of writable media and this is a severe blow to HD DVD. There may be little HD DVD re-writers available, but now it appears that will always be the case.

Well, since Warner put the last nail in the coffin... I guess all these other companies are pouring concrete over it and any day Universal will be filling the hole up with dirt and Paramount will be along (after the exclusive money deal) to put the headstone on for good ol' HD-DVD.

This format war needs to end now. It is time for HD-DVD to close its doors. It's not the end of the world, Sony survived Betamax, and the companies who supported HD-DVD will still go on...

This format lasted the shortest... Sign of the times. Decades ago it took many years to determine a winner. Now it took barely a year in the open market and the format with support from even MS could not survive.

Wow talk about a domino effect. There has to have been 6-10 companies to have left HD DVD since warner left.

I believe now all it will take is paramount or Universal to go netural (not drop HD DVD all together), and people really will give up on the format

Sony has got lucky with this one or they just bought their way out. I do believe in the end Blu Ray will be better format however anyone trying to make or burn movies in HD will pay the pretty penny for this now. Especailly now that Blu-Ray (the more expensive disc) has taken over. See we lose because they (Sony) can set the price to whatever they want, now that there wont be competition. Seeing that there is soon to be a resetion in the economy not many people will part with their cash.
